Web and Mobile App Critique
Waze
Waze is a global positioning system (GPS) navigation software, and Google owns this app. this app provides turn by turn, navigation, time of travel times, and route details.
A litter of history on Waze it was the development in 2006 by freeMap Israel, in 2008 Shabtai formed a company called Waze. In 2009 The company name was changed to Waze Mobile Ltd. In 2013, the GSM Association, a trade association of mobile network operators, gave Waze the Best Overall Mobile App award at the association's Mobile World Congress exhibition. In the same year, Google bought Waze for $966 million.
In usability, the app collects map data travel times and traffic information from users and transmits it to the Waze server. One of the most significant features is getting the best route in real-time with help from the fellow driver using Waze. One of my favorite features is the ability to report accidents, constructions, police activities, Speed Cameras, or Red Cameras. And more for other drivers. Another great feature is the ability to app others stop to your destination without switching apps like Gas stations, food, coffee, shopping, pharmacies, grocery stores, hospital, and urgent care. Another great feature is the ability to carpool; Here in New York City is very helpful this ability because the George Washington Bridge is $13, and with carpool is $6.
functionality
Using Waze is super smooth, is like any other GPS app. first type or say your destination, second see the best route with traffic updates, then start driving.
Another super cool feature with this app is that it is compatible with Apple Carplay and makes super easy to use on the car radio, especially with the new OS 13.
Waze is one of the best GPS apps on the market. But if I have to recommend three improvements, One of them will be to add the feature of alert of cyclists on the roadside. Allow bicyclists to ride with the app and give truth reports to drivers about their location so that a car driver can be alerted to a cyclist on the roadside.
The second improvement will be to add in the gas station icon the electric Charging station location. My friend is an EV driver, and it is hard for him to find charging stations for electric cars in the areas.
The last of the improvements ideas is more a combination of software and hardware a Heads up Display (HUD). Make a heads up display icon so that the user can place it on their dash, and the reflection will show up on the windshield. For the night time driving whee, it is safer to stare closer to the road versus looking down.
